About Us

My name is Jerry Vandewater and for 28 years, I worked for a large concrete roof tile manufacturer and have been fortunate enough to use that time to amass a wealth of experience and information regarding all aspects of tile roofing. Prior to that, I put in close to nine years on the roof with most of that experience being the installation of clay and concrete roofing tiles. Although laying tile was definitely hard work, at the time I never realized how valuable it was to achieve that practical perspective of the industry.

My most recent experience was as a Vice President of Sales & Marketing for a medium sized roofing contractor in Southern California. Being intimately involved in all aspects of the contracting business provided me with clear understanding of the issues facing roofers in today’s economy.

In the course of my employment in the roof tile industry I have met hundreds of people from dozens of professions and have developed a profound respect for those who have mastered the intricacies of their trade. I have also come to understand the need for focused interplay and cooperation between individuals and organizations. It has been my experience that problems most often occur when issues are not completely communicated or understood.

It is with that thought in mind that I have decided to try to apply my perspective and expertise to the cause of improving other people’s experiences with tile roofs. To anyone who knows me, it will come as no surprise that my passion for the roof tile industry would take me in this direction and I intend to focus my business on finding practical solutions to problems and simple steps to their avoidance.

In my role as Technical Service Manager at MonierLifetile, I had to deal with a variety of issues, ranging from basic roof installation and building code requirements to the complexities of legal proceedings. I believe that my varied experiences over the past 40 years have given me the ability to offer sound advice on virtually any issue related to clay or concrete roofing tile.
